The Ocoee River is nature’s premier roller-coaster ride, fun, fast & continuous (weekends only in the spring).  Ages 12 & up.

OCOEE WHITE WATER RAFTING IS OLYMPIC-SIZED FUN!

Tennessee’s Ocoee River is one of America’s most popular white water rivers for a reason. Thrill to the experience of consistent big class III and IV rapids, powered by warm water and reliable dam-released flows. We run fully-guided trips on both the Middle and Upper sections of the Ocoee river. An easy drive from Atlanta, Chattanooga or Knoxville, the Ocoee River is a day of whitewater rafting fun for your whole family or group!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE UPPER AND MIDDLE OCOEE RIVER RAFTING SECTIONS?

We run two trips on the Ocoee, the celebrated Middle section, and the Upper. Both are half-day trips, with about two hours of river time. The Middle Ocoee is our most popular trip with 20 exhilarating class III and IV rapids in a five-mile stretch. The Upper Ocoee is available weekends mid-May through mid- September and features the challenging big water of the famed 1996 Olympic white water course. You can also combine both trips for a full day of thrilling Ocoee white water action.

 MIDDLE OCOEE RAFTING

  • Trip Length: Approximately 3.5 hours (2 hours on the river)
  • Equipment Furnished: Raft, paddle, PFD, helmet and paddling jacket if needed
  • Season: Weekends in the Spring & Fall; Thursday through Monday in Summer
  • Wetsuits available for rent

The Middle Ocoee River is half a day of Tennessee white water rafting fun for individuals, families, and groups. Everyone, including Scouts and camps with teens, love this roller coaster stretch of river where your guide will steer you through an unbroken run of class III and IV rapids like Grumpy’s, Double Trouble and Table Saw. See a little history along the way with the last remaining wooden powerhouse water flume in the country. If you’re looking for a fun experience of blasting through big white water, the Middle Ocoee is the trip for you!

UPPER OCOEE RAFTING

  • Minimum Age: 12 years
  • Intensity Level: Exciting and challenging. No previous white water experience required be prepared for the the 1/2 mile of continuouse class 4 rapids in the Olympic Section.
  • Trip Length: Approximately 3 hours (1.5 hours on the river)
  • Equipment Furnished: Raft, paddle, PFD, helmet and paddling jacket if needed
  • Season: Weekends Mid May to Mid September

White water rafting on the Upper Ocoee River is more challenging than the Middle Ocoee section due to the big, powerful water of the 1996 Olympic course. While the beginning and ending sections of the trip are quiet enough that you can enjoy the natural beauty of the area, the river narrows through a steep set of rapids at the 1996 Olympic Kayak Slalom Course. Here you’ll drop through enormous rapids like Smileys, Slam Dunk, and the double-drop of Humongous. You’ll have a highly-trained guide in each raft, but boaters who take on the Upper Ocoee should be prepared to participate actively in their Ocoee white water rafting experience. A great trip for the adventurous paddler!
